The Psychology Department successfully organized a movie screening as part of its fundraising initiative for Cognosia Fest, which was conducted in the last week of January 2025. The screening took place on January 20-21, 2025, at the New General Hall, featuring CID Moosa, a classic Malayalam comedy film known for its timeless humour and engaging storyline. The event received an enthusiastic response from students and faculty, drawing a significant audience over the two days. On January 20, the screening was conducted exclusively for first- and second-year students, while on January 21, it was held for third-year students. The primary objective of this initiative was to generate financial support for Cognosia Fest while fostering a sense of community and entertainment among attendees.
The venue was well-prepared with organized seating arrangements and technical support to ensure a smooth viewing experience. Tickets were reasonably priced to encourage maximum participation, and refreshments were made available for purchase, further contributing to the fundraising efforts. The initiative successfully met its fundraising goals, with proceeds allocated toward various activities and logistical arrangements for Cognosia Fest. Faculty members and student volunteers played a crucial role in coordinating ticket sales, promotions, and event logistics, ensuring seamless execution. The event also served as a platform for informal interaction among students and faculty, reinforcing the department’s commitment to holistic engagement beyond academics. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the nostalgic appeal of the selected movie and the opportunity to contribute to a larger cause. The Psychology Department extends its gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and organizers for their collective efforts in making this fundraising event a success.
The Psychology Department organized a fundraising food court, Aavo Ghavo, on January 23, 2025, as part of its efforts to generate funds for Cognosia Fest. The event took place within the campus premises and featured a variety of homemade dishes prepared by students. The initiative aimed to encourage student participation, foster teamwork, and create an engaging platform for fundraising while offering delicious and affordable food options. A wide range of dishes, including both traditional and contemporary delicacies, were available for sale, attracting a large number of students and faculty members.
The enthusiastic response from attendees contributed to the event’s overall success, with all items being sold out by the end of the day. The food court was efficiently managed by student volunteers, who took charge of food preparation, sales, and customer service, ensuring smooth operations throughout the event. The proceeds from Aavo Ghavo were allocated to support various activities and logistical requirements for Cognosia Fest. The event not only helped in raising significant funds but also strengthened the sense of community and collaboration among students.
As a part of Onam celebrations, "Tanimalayam" Onam speech competition was conducted under the leadership of Psychology Department on 23-08-23 at 11.45 am in Psychology Lab. About ten people participated in the competition. First prize Miss. Surya (Second Year Malayalam Student) ,Second Prize Miss. Arya (Second Year Psychology Student) , Third prize Mr. Irfan (first year economics student). Mr. Nikhil. C(Teacher, B.Com Dept.), Miss. Aswathi (Teacher, Department of History), Miss. Neethu K (Teacher, Department of Psychology) were the judges. The teachers also distributed prizes to the winners. Head of Department of Psychology Dr. E. W.Vincent Greetings and Psychology Department Teacher Ms. Neethu M also expressed her gratitude.
The department of psychology has conducted a face painting competition on 20-12-2022 between 2-3 pm in connection with the Christmas day celebration at the Psychology lab. Mr Dilju and Mrs Alphy Maria, faculties from the department of Travel and Tourism and Department of Computer science respectively, were the judges of the competition. A total of 17 teams of students from various departments of the college competed. The first prize was collected by students from the Microbiology department( Nasreena&Thamanna) and also the second prize was collected by students from the English Department(Janshiba& Hiba). The judges honoured the winners with momentum.
The Psychology department of Fathima Arts and Science college observed on 3rd December 2021 at 10:30 to 12:30, ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES’, College principal Dr R Raveendran Pillai inaugurated the function. Vice Principal Fr. Ajeesh T Kurian presided. He said that society should consider the differently able who are being marginalised year after year and the new generation should embrace them. Fathima Huda delivered the welcome address, staff secretary Mrs Akshaya Krishna delivers felicitation, she shared an experience of old student with disability. Dr. Vincent E.V (Head of the department ) delivered felicitation . He said that a person who was disabled in an accident removes his right leg. There after seven years back he becomes a footballer in Indian tri- cycling team captain. Miss Neethu .k (Assistant Professor) she delivered her experiences with a disabled she speak we never show sympathetic approach towards others always be empathetic. Mr. Satheeshan T. K, he motivates student. Student representatives; Shahana Sherin, Aksa James and Fidha Shameer shared extensive information about physical disabilities and mental disabilities. Hisana T. K , Haifa Mehrin and Rinsha Sherin talked about the lives of famous and infamous people who have become an inspiration to others who overcome all their disabilities. Nihal P, Abhirami R, Rinsha Sherin, Fidha Shameer, Sufaina, and Reesha Sherin performed a role play based on how society should and should not treat people with disabilities. First year psychology students Elina Joseph and Shana reviewed the programme and Jahana Sherin expressed gratitude to all.
