The Department of Microbiology started in the year 2013 with a three-year BSc program and currently offers BSc Honours and Honors with Research four-year programs in Microbiology. Our faculty members are renowned experts in various areas of microbiology, including microbial genetics, virology, immunology, environmental microbiology, microbial ecology, biochemistry, and biostatistics. Through cutting-edge research, we strive to unravel the mysteries of microbial life, from fundamental processes to practical applications.

Microbiology forms the earliest and the most advanced area of life sciences. We are dedicated to advancing our understanding of microorganisms and their interactions with the environment, humans, animals, and plants. The department aims to impart quality education to students, prepare them for new research challenges, and create and foster technology for the upliftment of society. Here at FATHIMA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE, we aim to produce microbiologists of excellent caliber with good laboratory and technical skills. The department is well equipped with all the necessary instruments and research facilities.
